P.F. Changs

Appetizer: Vegetable dumplings, steamed
Bill: Ma po tofu
Kitty: Sweet and sour pork
Veggie fried rice for both
Cost: would have been about $30

Uh, no.

The decor is pretty, though a bit overdone. The waiters, though green, are attentive. But the food.

There really was nothing wrong with the dumplings. I'm allergic to large amounts of ginger (and it tastes awful to me), so I passed, but Bill enjoyed them very much. Not so with the tofu, which was too salty and had little to counteract that taste. The S&S was very fatty, and grossed me out after a few pieces. The fried rice had a smoked flavor added, and was also very greasy.

And then it hit me.

Well, he hit me. I was getting ready to pay the bill, when one of the waiters swung an empty tray and connected quite solidly my skull, just behind my left ear. I almost went down, and I'm ashamed to say I was a bit cranky with the waiter (who felt awful--I don't really blame him). We got our meal for free, but boy howdy, we are so never going back.

Hey there Cat Conner. Just curious, how much did you tip the server? And why are you not coming back? Because of the food?

Maybe its a good thing that you don't go back. It sounds like you are the kind of person that is never satisfied no matter how the situation unfolds. Did you ever think that maybe your meal sucked and you got smacked because the entire time you were in the restaurant all you did was complain...now thats great conversation. A piece of advice...people like you, need to stay at home!!!

Well, I can see you've read the entire site (this being one of about three negative reviews out of more than 30).

Try for an informed opinion next time.

Oops--I never answered the first person--sorry about that.

The tip was in the payment that the manager gave back to me. I didn't realize until we were home that I'd neglected to tip--I felt badly because we're normally very generous (20-25%). Working in a restaurant is a damned hard job, and my husband and I both appreciate someone who can pull that off well.

Service or food can be a deal breaker, but food is #1. There are just too many great restaurants in Portland to bother going back to someplace mediocre.

I have worked at restaurants for three years and it's not an easy job. Sometimes customers complain about perfectly good food and the usually they insult the employees!!! I think that your s snobby person that just sits there and complains about everything. WE get alot of your kind of people!!! IT's okay what u need to do is buy your own restaurant and bitch at the people that work for YOU!! People make mistakes and not every mean is going to be perfect. People make mistakes. Learn to be nice about it!! Take care

If you say what you think, then it's always a good idea to think before you say anything.

Did you bother to look at any other reviews on this site? Did you bother to read my comments above?

You don't know anything about me; you've misjudged me badly, and made an ass of yourself to boot. Congrats.
